The Cobra Group’s first foray into Asia began in earnest in July 1995, when our start up team landed in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. Malaysia has gone on to become the hub of The Cobra Group’s expansion into the rest of South East Asia, as well as being an incredibly important intersection, where Western marketing techniques meet the East’s insatiable appetite for development.

During our 12 years in Malaysia, we have watched and often been involved in the incredible development of some of the social and economic milestones the country has reached. Through its local branding as Appco, The Cobra Group has, in its brief time here, been responsible for the registration of 30 percent of all broadband users in the country, the acquisition of over one million customers for various telecom companies and the generation of almost US$25 million for charity.

As the country moves into an important phase of deregulation across the telecom sector in 2008, giving Malaysians an unprecedented level of choice in their service providers, our future here is even brighter.
